Rejection is something I think most artists need to get used to. It happens a lot in this business. Being currently unemployed, I have been dealing with a fair bit lately as I search for a more full-time employment situation than my current sparse freelance work. Maybe it's good though, it allows us to reassess our goals and maybe provides that bit of sour that the sweet needs to be properly enjoyed. That said, it still sucks.
As I try to figure out my next move, I have been working on a few side projects. One was submissions for someone I came in contact with a few months ago. This, as the title of this post says was REJECTED. No worries though, now I can share it with the 7 people that read this blog... okay 10.
There was a question in the comments so to clarify, I wrote, drew, and coloured this.

Hey, FUN! I like that the characters are strong, recognizable "types" and they all wear very amusing expressions. These look like your colors, John. Am I right? Did you write it, too?
John,
Very cool, it's always inspiring to see the things that you're doing. I love Chastity Girl's outfit with the arrow ond lock...clever!
Thanks Jon. Yep, it's all me, writing, drawing, and colour.
Thanks Shannon.
that was great! terrific art and story. and yeah- chastity girl's costume was pretty clever. :)
This is brilliant. Great art work and the story is stellar.
Nicely drawn and clear, readable pages. Sorry to hear it got rejected. With so much material out there that's not-so-good, I can't believe someone would reject yours...maybe if you throw some zombies in it...?:)
Hahahaaa! God! I Love your Art! The Eye poke was Gutbustingly Hilarious!
ah well.. I thought it was great Jo. Your mech was loaded with funny units that day my friend. And anti armour drafting to boot.
I reject your rejection.
Haha...that's rad!
Hey John,
Great comic. The eye gouge and nards punt are really funny. I can't believe it was rejected... there must've been some pretty stiff competition. Or maybe they gave the gig to their half-wit nephew-in-law (like they always do). Chin up, though, I'm positive there are more than 10 people who read your blog! Things will turn around for you. Keep on keeping on!
Nicely done. Great designs on the girls.
Best of luck with the job search.
Very cool stuff man. And take this time to focus on what you want to create. Believe it or not you will savor the down times for the freedome you have. And your new avatar is awsome!
great stuff!
j.
