The Flying Elephant

My buddy Dan had a baby recently. Originally, they wanted me to paint a mural in the baby's room, but I was unable to make it out to Florida so, I did a quick little painting to be put up on the wall instead.

Acrylic on Watercolour paper.

Gorgeous illo, John. Love the rawness of the paints. The color palette and design are top notch as well.

Hello! i just stumbled upon this elephant, and i am amazed by it, It's beautiful!

I have a question for you (i would have e mail it but could'nt find your details anywhere)

So, i'm about to start a painting for an illustration and if you don't mind taking some time to answer two questions about your techniques, i would be very gratefull.

you say you used acrylic for the painting. My questions are:
1) do you think it would be possible to add pencil strokes on top of it, or the acrylic is too plasticky for that?
2) do you think it would be possible to have the same aspect with gouache or did you used acrylic for a specific reason(s)?

:)

Merci beaucoup
Thanks a lot
