So, this was supposed to be an easy paint over with head replacement. I couldn't find a high enough resolution of the original American Gothic painting so, I had to recreate the whole thing. Partial forgery yes, but easily the best digital painting I have ever done. I still don't hate it, which REALLY says something.

Wow, great re-paint John. I see your hands haven't fallen off from the animation project. The clothing brush stokes are nice.
Holy Cow, John! Nice work.
Wow. I mean, WOW.
Damn, that's such a fantastic painting...I had to comment twice.
MORE Hoffman digital paints, sez I!
SWEET! John this is killer.
how have you been?
Came into here after eons! whats cooking these days?
I saw the new approach of your paintjob! lovely!
keep em coming!
keep in touch mate!
cheers!
I wouldn't worry about forgery. Countless painters have repainted famous works to learn from the masters. It would have been worse if you did just repaint the heads and retain the original bodies.
Great stuff!
Great painting! Specially that shirt...
hahahaha. Hilarious rendering. Remake Dogs playing cards next!
John, this is flat-out awesome !
